Stump and tree removal for Enola and the West Shore
Dying trees taken down, stumps ground out and the holes filled, with the yard left clean. Residential and commercial, within about 20 miles of Harrisburg.
When a tree has to come down
Most removals start with a tree that has stopped being a tree and become a risk. It is dying, it leans over the roof, or it stands right where a driveway, a shed or an addition is going. One customer wrote that K&K had their giant old dying tree down and out of harm's way that week. That is the kind of call John takes, from homeowners and from businesses.
Not every tree needs to come down. A free estimate starts with a look at it: how close it stands to the house, the wires and the fence, whether the trunk is sound, and whether trimming would do the job instead. If the answer is removal, the stump gets priced alongside the tree, so there is one number for the whole job.

How a removal runs, from the top down
A tree beside a house or a fence line is rarely felled in one piece. The usual method is to take it down in sections, starting at the top, so each piece lands where it is meant to rather than on the roof, the garage or the neighbor's yard. K&K works from an aerial bucket truck for the high cuts, then lowers the heavy wood in controlled pieces.
Then comes the stump. Grinding takes it down below grade with a stump grinder, a machine that chews the wood out in layers, and the hole is filled so the spot can be seeded, planted or paved. Sue B. wrote that K&K removed the stumps and filled the holes, and that it looks great.
Last is the cleanup. Limbs and brush are chipped, the sawdust is raked up and the debris is cleared away. Gene B. wrote that K&K came promptly and left the property clean, which is the part of a tree job most people end up judging it by.
After the stump is gone
A ground stump leaves a patch of loose wood chips and soil that settles over the first season, so a hole that needs topping up is normal, not a mistake. Once it has settled you can lay sod, seed grass or plant something new where the tree stood. If the stump is in the way of a build, say so when you ask for the estimate.
