Tree trimming

Tree trimming that takes the hazardous limb off before it finds your roof.

K&K removes hazardous limbs over houses and other structures, clears the brush and chips it on site, so the roof under the tree stays a roof.

Why a limb over the roof is a deadline

A limb that hangs over a roof is harmless until the day it is not. Weight builds up over the years, a dead branch dries out and turns brittle, and a storm or a heavy wet snow supplies the last push. When it lets go it lands on the shingles, and the damage can reach past the surface into the roof structure. K&K's trimming work is aimed at exactly this: removing hazardous limbs over structures to protect your roof.

John has more than 30 years of construction and property maintenance experience, so he reads a tree the way a roofer and a tree man would both read it. Which limb is dead, which one leans toward the ridge, and which ones can safely stay. Not every branch near a house has to go, and sorting the ones that do from the ones that do not is the first thing a free estimate settles.

How the trim runs, from the top limb to the last chip

A good trim starts with deciding where each cut lands. The cut belongs back at a sound collar or a healthy junction, so the tree can close over the wound, instead of leaving a long stub that rots. Limbs that hang over a house are usually lowered in sections on rope rather than dropped, so nothing swings into the shingles, the gutter or the siding on the way down.

The brush is the other half of the job. K&K's trimming work covers limb removal, brush clearing and chipping, so the branches go through the chipper on site and what is left is wood chips, not a pile waiting at the curb. If the walk-through shows a tree is past trimming, the same crew also does full removal and stump grinding, so you are not starting over with a second company.

Where the trimming meets the roof

K&K is a property maintenance company as well as a tree crew, so the roof those limbs were hanging over is not a separate phone call. If a branch has already come down, or you want the shingles looked at while the tree is being worked, the roof repair side covers leaks, missing shingles and structural damage, with inspections for homes and rental properties.

The office is at 23 Acri Meadow Road in Enola, and the crew works within approximately 20 miles of Harrisburg, including Camp Hill. Call or text John at (717) 884-2572 with a photo of the limb and the roofline. Estimates are free, and many jobs can be priced remotely from the details. Weekdays run 8 to 5, with weekends by appointment.

K&K Properties & Services Inc. is veteran owned and operated out of Enola, PA. PA Contractor License PA0499405, licensed through the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, and licensed, bonded and insured.

Look up from the driveway

The limb over the roof is the one to ask about.

  • A branch with no leaves on it while the rest of the tree is in leaf.
  • A limb that rests on the roofline or brushes the shingles when the wind picks up.
  • Branches hanging over the chimney, the gutters or the spot where the roof meets the siding.

If any of those sound like your yard, a photo is enough to start. John can tell you whether the limb needs to come off or whether the tree can stay as it is.

“Good job and a fair price!”
